Mayor's Bio
Jasper Mayor Dr. Gary Cowen has been served District Three as Councilmember from 2000 - October 2024, before being sworn in as mayor. He graduated from Auburn University and UAB Medical School. He completed a residency in OB-GYN and practiced in Jasper. Gary is married to Julie Cowen and they have four children. He is a member of the First Methodist Church and serves on the Boards of Daybreak Spouse Abuse Shelter, Jasper Family Resource Center, the Administrative Board of First Methodist Church, and the grant review committee of Walker Area Community Foundation.
