April 18, 2023 - Mayor O’Mary and the Jasper City Council have proclaimed today Arbor Day in Jasper. Since 1988, Jasper has proudly held the designation of being a Tree City USA community by the National Arbor Day Foundation. Arbor Day reminds us that trees - wherever planted - are a source of joy and spiritual renewal.
You'll notice many new trees have been planted recently in downtown Jasper courtesy of a joint effort between Jasper Main Street and Mar-Jac Poultry. Mar-Jac provided the new trees that have been planted on 18th Street, 6th, 5th, and 4th Avenues. And on a special note, the installation of the trees was provided posthumously by Patricia Neal Hendrix Putman, "a lover of outdoors and a lover of downtown Jasper."
