Jasper Industrial Board Receives 2nd SEEDS Grant Award
Jasper, Ala – The Jasper Industrial Development Board has been awarded a matching grant through Alabama’s SEEDS program of $85,743.00, the second award given to JIDB from Governor Ivey’s development grant funds program. It will be used for a site assessment project that has a total budget of $149,900.00 and will require a local match of $64,157.00 from the JIDB.
“We are very excited to be awarded this development grant and for Jasper to continue to be on the state's radar as a good place to invest development money,” said Jasper Mayor Gary Cowen. “This money will be used to complete all assessment work on a 65-acre site between Yorozu and Heiche and adjacent to Whitehouse Rd. This will allow for the development of a new prepared site used to grow our local industrial base.”
Jerry Byars, Chairman of the JIDB, said, “This represents several months of hard work and diligence that has paid off in a big way. Our vision for growth in Jasper is aligned with the plans that are paying off all over the state, and we hope to prepare a site that will attract high-wage jobs and long-term investment to Jasper.”
The SEEDS program provides financial assistance to make industrial and commercial sites ready for development and help Alabama compete for economic development projects and jobs. “This program helps Alabama remain competitive for economic development projects and jobs. It also helps communities like Jasper develop infrastructure to attract businesses and jobs that otherwise may not be able to locate in the community.” Said Green Suttles, Executive Director of the Jasper Industrial Development Board. “This is our second award from SEEDS and we are grateful and excited to have been chosen to receive this funding.”
