September 15, 2022 - This week Mayor O'Mary and the Jasper City Council proclaimed September 2022 as Gynecological Cancer Awareness Month. The teal bows displayed around Jasper are displayed by members of the Laura Crandall Brown Foundation as part of their "A State of Teal" initiative to raise awareness of all GYN cancers. Cecilia Crandall briefly spoke at Tuesday’s council meeting and shared some staggering facts. Did you know that Alabama ranks fourth in the country for new ovarian cancers and third in the country for new cervical cases? Walker County is among the state’s counties with the highest number of cervical cancer cases.
