October 18, 2022 - At this morning's council meeting, Mayor O’Mary and the Jasper City Council proclaimed October 17-21, 2022, as Alabama College Application Week in Jasper. This week students across Alabama can get their college application fee waived when they apply to certain colleges and universities in Alabama and across the southeast. AL College Application Week started in 2012 to increase the number of students applying for postsecondary education. With the assistance of Jasper High School Career Coach Monique Lawrence, this marks the first year Jasper has proclaimed the third week in October as AL College Application Week. Mayor O’Mary presented the proclamation to Ms. Lawrence and Jasper High School senior Logan Naramore and junior Katelyn Thursby. Best of luck to those students who apply this week!
