CITY OF JASPER ANNOUNCES PARTICIPATION IN LIVE LOCALLY ALABAMA CAMPAIGN

JASPER, AL - The City of Jasper is proud to announce its participation in Live Locally Alabama, a quality-of-life campaign led by the Alabama League of Municipalities that highlights the important role local communities play in making Alabama a great place to live, work, build a life, and enjoy a strong sense of place.

There will be no Jasper garbage collection on Monday, February 16, 2026, due to the Presidents Day holiday. All pickups will be delayed by one day beginning with the regular Monday pickups occurring on Tuesday.

All non-essential city offices will be closed on Monday, February 16, 2026, in observance of the Presidents Day federal holiday and will reopen for regular business hours on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

CITY OF JASPER INTRODUCES HOMELESSNESS RESPONSE STEERING COMMITTEE

JASPER, AL - The City of Jasper formally introduced the members of its Homelessness Response Steering Committee during the Jasper City Council meeting on Tuesday morning. The formation of this committee marks an important step forward in the implementation of the City of Jasper Homelessness Response Framework presented to Council earlier this year.

2026 Business License Renewal Reminder

January 23, 2026 - The last day to renew your City of Jasper business license for 2026 without incurring a penalty is Monday, February 2, 2026. If you have any questions, please call 205-221-8533 or email license@jaspercity.com. You can renew online or download the renewal form to print and fill out.

January 22, 2026 - Mayor Josh Gates and City Council Members Lincoln Moody, Willie Moore, and Jennifer Williams Smith attended the Alabama League of Municipalities Advocacy Day on Wednesday, January 21.

This annual event provides municipal leaders the opportunity to engage with state officials and discuss issues that impact our communities, local government, and quality of life across Alabama. City representatives also had the chance to hear from and visit with several state leaders, including U.S. Senator Katie Britt and State Senator Matt Woods.

At yesterday’s Jasper City Council meeting, Mayor Josh Gates and the Jasper City Council presented a proclamation recognizing January 2026 as Human Trafficking Prevention Month. The proclamation affirms the City of Jasper’s commitment to raising awareness, strengthening education and training efforts, supporting survivors, and working collaboratively to prevent human trafficking in our community. The City also reaffirmed its designation as a Trafficking Free Zone, emphasizing the importance of coordinated, community-wide action.
