Jasper Awarded $1 Million in SEEDS Grant Funds

SEEDS grant site visit
February 29, 2024 - Governor Kay Ivey announced this week that Jasper has been awarded $1,001,000 in grant funding for continued development of the Whitehouse Road Prepared Site project located in Jasper Industrial Park. Jasper is one of 29 projects in 26 counties selected for Site Evaluation and Economic Development Strategy Act (SEEDS) funding.

Last year, the Alabama legislature passed the SEEDS grant program fund with the goal of developing more quality industrial sites in Alabama as part of Governor Ivey’s Game Plan to boost economic development in our state. Jasper will receive $1 million of the $30.1 million in total SEEDS grant funds and will contribute a required local match of $750,000.

Mayor David O’Mary said, “The SEEDS grant will place the city in a very advantageous position to attract industrial prospects and continue to allow us to build a better Jasper. I’m excited for the future of Jasper Industrial Park.”

“There have been many people who have contributed to the development of this particular site over the years. I appreciate everyone who has played a part in bringing it to its current state to be qualified for a development grant like this, as well as those who provided their expertise and support with such a quick turnaround time on the SEEDS grant application,” said Jasper Industrial Development Board Executive Director, Green Suttles III.
