August 27, 2024 - Governor Kay Ivey was in Jasper yesterday afternoon to speak and officially mark the opening of the SR-5 bridge over US-78A (SR-69) with a ribbon cutting ceremony. She was joined by U.S. Representative Robert Aderholt, Senate Pro Tem Greg Reed, and ALDOT West Central Region Engineer Wallace McAdory. This $8 million Rebuild Alabama project, which also includes new bridge ramps and a planned traffic signal on SR-5, will improve both safety and economic development in Jasper and Walker County.
This project was finished ahead of schedule thanks to ALDOT and Wright Brothers Construction Company, who was awarded the contract. The new bridge is now open to traffic!
