November 12, 2024 - At last week’s Jasper City Council meeting, Dr. Gary Cowen was announced as the 19th mayor of the City of Jasper. He was sworn in as mayor in a private ceremony on October 28, 2024. Mayor Cowen, previously serving as President Pro Tempore, was legally in position to take over mayoral duties in the absence of Mayor David P. O’Mary. Mayor Cowen stated he intends on moving forward with Mayor O’Mary’s vision to do “what’s best for Jasper” and continue his legacy.

veterans day 24 pickup schedule

November 6, 2024 - Due to the Veterans Day holiday, there will be no Jasper garbage/debris collection on Monday, November 11, 2024. Collection through the week will be delayed by one day beginning with the regular Monday pickups occurring on Tuesday.

Additionally, all non-essential city offices will be closed on Monday, November 11, 2024, and will reopen for regular business hours on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.

JHS Homecoming Parade

October 30, 2024 - JASPER HIGH SCHOOL HOMECOMING PARADE (FRIDAY)

The Jasper High School Homecoming parade will be this Friday afternoon, November 1st. Temporary road blockages will begin around 12:30 pm on Friday with the parade set to begin at 1:00 pm. Expect brief road closures at various points along the parade route from approximately 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm to accommodate this event. The parade route will be the same as in years past. GO VIKES!

October 30, 2024 - NOTICE OF CANDY: Jasper City Hall, and other municipal locations, will be handing out candy tomorrow for Halloween. City Hall will be handing out candy from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Come by and see us!

Governor Kay Ivey has authorized flags be flown at half-staff on Friday, October 25, 2024, from sunrise to sunset, to honor the life and remarkable service of Mayor David O'Mary. The City of Jasper is thankful to Governor Ivey for this great honor.

Jasper lost one of its very best Tuesday, October 22, 2024. David Platt O’Mary was born on September 27, 1952, in Jasper and lived in Eldridge, Alabama until moving to Winfield as a young boy after the loss of his father. He grew up with little money but with a lot of heart.
