CITY OF JASPER ANNOUNCES PARTICIPATION IN LIVE LOCALLY ALABAMA CAMPAIGN
JASPER, AL - The City of Jasper is proud to announce its participation in Live Locally Alabama, a quality-of-life campaign led by the Alabama League of Municipalities that highlights the important role local communities play in making Alabama a great place to live, work, build a life, and enjoy a strong sense of place.
The campaign brings attention to the everyday efforts of municipalities to enhance public safety, infrastructure, economic opportunity, workforce development, education, and community amenities that contribute to a strong quality of life.
Jasper’s involvement in the initiative reflects the community’s focus on recognizing what makes our city unique while continuing to create opportunities for growth and improvement. From economic development efforts and downtown revitalization to arts and cultural initiatives, Jasper is focused on enhancing the experience of living, working, and visiting here.
Mayor Josh Gates said, “Participating in Live Locally Alabama gives us the opportunity to share the great things happening in Jasper while also highlighting the opportunities ahead. It allows us to showcase the work taking place here every day to make Jasper an even better place to live and work.”
Councilmember Jennifer Williams Smith, District 4, who also serves on the Alabama League of Municipalities Board of Directors representing Congressional District 4, said, “I am excited that Jasper is joining this statewide initiative. Quality of life is shaped by the everyday work happening in our communities, and this campaign gives us a meaningful platform to highlight Jasper’s strengths and the vision we have for our future.”
As part of the City’s participation in the campaign, Jasper will launch a social media video series featuring the new Downtown Jasper Sculpture Trail. The sculptures are displayed throughout downtown and highlight people, industries, and traditions that have shaped Jasper’s history and identity.
The trail includes sculptures representing the coal and timber industries, the railroads, rich fishing heritage, early trading posts, and notable figures such as educator Clarence “Professor” White, entertainer George “Goober” Lindsey, Congressman Carl A. Elliott, and the gavel of Speaker of the House William B. Bankhead. Each piece tells part of the story of how Jasper grew and the people and industries that influenced its development. More information about the Sculpture Trail can be found at jaspermainstreet.com/sculptures.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to follow the City of Jasper, AL on Facebook and Instagram to watch the video series and learn more about the Sculpture Trail and the stories behind each installation.
The City invites residents and visitors to participate in the campaign by sharing their own experiences that highlight Jasper’s quality of life. When posting photos and stories that showcase what makes Jasper a meaningful place to live, work, and explore, use the hashtag #LiveLocallyAlabama.
