It is the mission of the Department of Sanitation, to provide solid waste services to the citizens of Jasper through the collection and disposal of discarded material in a manner that is safe, efficient, environmentally sound, and cost-effective to maintain the health and safety of the community.
The Sanitation Department collects residential garbage weekly from carts provided by the city. Commercial collections are made on an as-needed basis. The city also operates a construction and demolition landfill that accepts building debris and similar materials. The office and landfill is located at 1311 West Gamble Drive and is open between the hours of 7:00 am and 2:45 pm, local time, Monday through Friday.
Effective October 1, 2025, by Ordinance 2025-14, the city has a twenty-two dollar ($22.00) monthly garbage rate for residents per dwelling, with each additional can being eleven dollars ($11.00) per month. It is billed quarterly on the first of the month in January, April, July, and October.
